Hi, my name is Leslie Liew and I run "Rest of the Net". "Rest of the Net" started in September 2006 as a simple blog on Blogger
http://restofthenet.blogspot.com/ . In January 2010 "Rest of the Net" has a Top level domain
http://restofthe.net/ with new software, new design and a new forum.
The name "Rest of the Net" has a dual meaning, 1. everything else on the internet; 2. a place to take a break on the internet. It started as a place to share some of the funny stuff that I stumble across and received limited success, highest one day peak was a flash game called "Sling" and best ranked on Google was "Cute Kittens". Even though it lives on other peoples content its philosophy is that the internet is for sharing as long as credit is given where it is due, so sources will be credited where possible as some content has been shared so much it has lost its roots.
Though "Rest of the Net" had been neglected over a period with a drop in post frequency it has been kept alive and has earned more of my attention.
I am a programmer/developer and administrator, even though I am going on two years of a break of work, I still live and breath code and the internet. I have had my failures in web sites and even if in the future "Rest of the Net" is amongst them at the moment I am most proud of how it is coming along and its potential, if nothing more than to show that "I still got it".
I would love to see an active community established through the forum behind "Rest of the Net", I encourage other Web sites to join in as I have joined in on other Web sites. In the not too distant future I would like to establish a team of original content producers.
