Portal is built on the Half-Life 2 engine and combines first person shooter with puzzle solving by introducing new portal technology.

I got this with the Orange Box pack with Team Fortress 2 and Half-life episodes 1 and 2. I rate it as the best of the pack.
Perhaps releasing this version for free on steam is hinting at the imminent release of Portal 2.
