The PC Online game scene has had massive shift to Free to Play. Some have limited free content and some have all content free with Premium benefits for paying gamers.
Blizzard may be dipping their toe in the water with World of Warcraft becoming free till level 20 and Starcraft 2 first 5 missions free and some multiplayer maps.
I had played WoW before, so I didn't try it out, but I got Starcraft 2 to have a play. I have to admit that Blizzard make a nice game having being a paying customer of Diablo 2, Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction, Starcraft, Starcraft Brood Wars, World of Warcraft, WoW Burning Crusade and WoW Wrath of the Lich King.
My existing Battle.net account refused to let me play the free content in Starcraft 2, but I created a new account an was able to use that. Seems odd to me that the account that I had given a registered paying customer of their games and subscription was being denied to try out the game.
The amount of content that they opened up is extremely limited compared to other Free to play games have offered, but if you are in to Online multiplayer gaming and you haven't got them yet, then it is worth a look.
