Remnants of the Skystone is a Steam punk themed semi-multiplayer role playing game.

The game play is reminiscent of platform shooters from the 90's like Duke Nukem, Halloween Harry and Commander Keen. I called it semi-multiplayer because the majority of the game play is single player. The multiplayer components are special two player cooperative missions, player chat and interaction in town and in player customised "floats" like houses.

There are three classes of character you can choose to play. Aeronauts have a steam pack and can fly and shoot steam. Ferrics wear blades on their arms and do massive damage close range and use the blades to climb walls. Crags have a whip like grapple which he uses to attack and grab on to walls to swing.

It is free to play, but in order to progress your level past 30 (to 40) you need paid subscription also in order to level your weapon skill past level 2 you need to purchase brass with real money since the cheapest weapon is 900 brass and the 2 daily quests which reward brass earn 3-4 brass.

I have been playing it for a few weeks and it has been really fun however I have finished the single player mission campaign but without comitting to pay, there is not a lot more my character can progress without committing a lot of play for little reward.
